The front floors definitely look like Swiss cheese, but only across the bend in the floor. Also the front passenger side drop rail area above the front door definitely needs attention but I found the piece that he was planning on using to fix it in the van.
The rear roof above the rear door looks like it was started to be repaired but not finished.
There are still some areas that need attention. The body work is rough on these areas but def just need to be smoothed out and gone over a bit more.

Someone before me started replacing rotted areas with patch panels but I guess he ran out of steam. Would make an awesome rat rod with a little work or could be restored to show quality if you have the time and resources.Īlthough the body is straight and appears to never have been in an accident, it's definitely not perfect. Lastly on the good side: it's just a real cool and very rare van. I changed the oil and filter yesterday and will hopefully get to the cap, plugs and wires today. Just has typical "wet" areas around seals that one would expect from a 52 year old, original motor. When I reinstalled the gas tank n put gas in it, it literally started up on the first try.The motor definitely isn't leak free, but it does not lose any oil or other fluids. The van has been parked in my driveway for 7 weeks and there isn't a spot of oil on my driveway so that's cool. These are impossible to come by, so having them is an extreme rarity, as they are not reproduced by any companies. The side barn door automatic step actually works! It comes out when the door is opened to help ya get in the van.Īlthough not in the pics, I have the headlight bezels for the front and installed them yesterday. I also just had the gas tank sealed and defumed and I put all new hoses and clamps upon reinstall. The clutch and gas pedal could use an adjustment to make them a little more "harmonious", but as is, it shifts and feels like a 52 year old van would. The van runs and drives but the brake shoes (drums all around) could use replacing, which I may get to in the next few days. One is a little wonky but the rest work great.

There are 2 small rot holes in the very rear corners of the floor and one more near the battery box, but none are bigger than 2" (see pics) The rest of the floor is extremely solid.Īll glass is crack free and in tact. Anyway, all 3 seats are 100% perfect and will either be installed, or included with purchase. They are black leather and have never been sat in, because when the Police buy a vehicle, the first thing they do is strip the entire interior and replace it with police approved materials. I also just purchased 2 brand new captains chairs and a 2 person bench seat, from a police suburban interior. Just the right amount of rust mixed with the original champagne paint.
The patina on the inside is actually really nice. They are now perfect and very comfortable and match the inside patina of the dash, dog house and doors very well. I removed the seats and had them re-foamed and reupholstered with a high grade chocolate brown marine vinyl. The motor is actually very quiet, especially with the new exhaust installed. The exhaust is also new, although wasn't connected when I got the van, but now it is perfect. The carb was rebuilt right before I got it but needed some adjusting. I will however be doing more repairs to the van while it's listed, just in case I decide to keep it, because it's super rare, easy to work on and really cool. So I've decided to sell it because although I've started doing some work to it, there's more than I can handle right now because I work a ton. Turns out when it arrived I was in for more than I bargained for. He was very vague with pics and description but I decided to buy it anyway, clean it up a bit and use it as a shop truck for advertising.
